A shelf with a following
Gujarati sat right in the grey menu strip of the old DudeFilms, and Gujarati Movies led the row of dark buttons. The new wave of Gujarati cinema that began with Kevi Rite Jaish and Chhello Divas has grown into one of the liveliest regional industries in India, and the shelf here covers it.
Comedies
Chhello Divas is the college comedy that started it all. Gujjubhai The Great and GujjuBhai: Most Wanted bring Siddharth Randeria's much-loved Gujjubhai, Fakt Mahilao Maate gives a man the power to hear what women are thinking, and 3 Ekka and Hurry Om Hurry are the crowd-pleasers of recent years.
Dramas and prize-winners
Hellaro, about women in a Kutch village who find freedom in dance, won the National Award for Best Feature Film. Last Film Show is Pan Nalin's love letter to cinema, told through a boy in Saurashtra. Naadi Dosh, Dhh and The Good Road complete a strong set.
Thrillers
Vash is the horror thriller about a family trapped by a stranger's black magic, and it became so popular that Hindi cinema remade it. Vash Level 2 followed in 2025. Watch Now shows where they stream, often on ShemarooMe, Jio, Prime Video or the Gujarati apps.
